Providence Mayor-elect Jorge Elorza will officially take office this week, with inauguration activities starting Saturday, January 3.  When Elorza is officially sworn in -- and gets down to work -- here are ten issues Elorza can't hid from in Providence.

Inauguration activities kick off Saturday with Elorza's "Day of Community Service Food Drive."   Non-perishable food items will be collected from 10 AM - 2 PM at Eastside Market, Whole Foods (University Heights), Compare Foods (Broad Street), Knight Memorial Library, Rochambeau Library, and Mt. Pleasant library.

On Sunday, the children's inaugural celebration will take place at the Providence Children’s Museum from 12 to 3 PM, where visitors can to learn about -- and try --  activities with Providence-based arts/education nonprofit organizations, including the Children’s Museum, Manton Avenue Project, Partnership for Providence Parks, Providence Children’s Film Festival, Providence CityArts for Youth, Providence Community Library, and Providence Public Library. Admission is free all day, from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, for Museum members and for Providence residents with ID or proof of residence. 

Monday's schedule begins with the inauguration at  2 PM at City Hall (seating opens at 1:30), followed by a reception with the Mayor at 3 PM, and the One Providence Inaugural Celebration at the Cranston Street Armory, which is sold out.
