Kerry King Responds to Democratic 'Hack Job'
When my staff and I read that article, we all chuckled at the thought of the image of this "influential" group of Democrats huddled in a corner, plotting my political demise. I only wish I were a fly on the wall.
The first thing that came to our minds was "Wow, good for us!" My Democrat opponent and the Democrat party must feel that we are such a threat, considering her lack of experience, that they need to try to “take me out” before we even debate. Speaking of debates, I will be calling for bi-weekly debates starting after the primaries.
Think about this for a minute: My opponent has a political war chest of over $800,000 for her run for Treasurer. She has all sorts of outside help; she is endorsed by local unions and a liberal Pro-Abortion group – and the Democrats feel that they need to take cheap shots at me? It appears they are worried about this race and I don't blame them.
So, here is my response to the RI Democrat Party, Mr. Pacheco, and my opponent. Nothing. You are not worthy of a response. By the way, nice attempted hack job.
However, the public does deserve a response. After the first article, I met with the same Providence Journal writer and proved that I was not in Florida on the day and time of the supposed phone call to my Florida winter home. It never happened. When I finally received a letter from the Florida Assessor’s office, I immediately claimed I was not eligible for a homestead exemption, and I sent back the form. There was no fraud, there was no illegality – it was a simple oversight on my part. And just to let the citizens of Rhode Island know, this exemption was for only $312 a year. I would never put my career and reputation on the line for any reason, especially to save $312 a year. It was an oversight, and I will cut a check to pay all the fees associated with my mistake.
However, for the Democrats to talk about “misrepresentation” is laughable. So I must take this opportunity to talk about the RI Democrat party, my opponent, and real misrepresentations.
I sometimes think that the Democrat Party run by Mr. Pacheco has amnesia, and forget that they and their Big Labor Union co-conspirators are solely responsible for the absolute dismal financial shape Rhode Island is in. Talk about misrepresentations! They sit around and talk about how bad the Rhode Island economy is, and act like someone else did it! Rhode Island is on the brink of bankruptcy, and the Democrats have nothing better to do but stick their noses into my race? Rhode Island, it is time we put an end to the Democrats 70-plus years of control over our great state, and vote them out.
And to my opponent Ms. Raimondo, talk about misrepresentations. Don't you think it's time you came clean and told the citizens of Rhode Island your true intentions? Please, tell the citizens of Rhode Island the truth about what office you are really running for. I know the truth; you know the truth; and the RI Democrat party knows the truth. The only people who don't know the truth – yet, are the good citizens of Rhode Island. They, more than anyone deserve to know the real truth.
And while you’re at it, how about “coming” clean and release your income tax returns?
