Loughlin and Cicilline Meet for Round 3 on ABC 6

It was their third debate within 24 hours—but Republican John Loughlin and Democrat David Cicilline still had plenty to say.

Loughlin stuck to his proposal for creating private retirement accounts in addition to Social Security and said he supported extended all of President Bush’s tax cuts. Cicilline said the cuts should not be continued for the top 2 percent earners. He said the tax cuts for the middle class should be made permanent and should not be “held hostage” to breaks for millionaires and billionaires.

Loughlin criticized Cicilline’s record as Providence mayor. "To say that Providence is in excellent fiscal health is absolutely bizarre,” Loughlin said, citing the city’s deficit. Cicilline said the claim was false. He said he had balanced every budget in his eight years in office.
