Lynch Calls on Congress to Let States Decide on LNG Locations

Congressional candidate Bill Lynch, a Democrat, yesterday called on the U.S. Senate to let the states, rather than the Federal Regulatory Commission, decide where liquefied natural gas terminals should be locations.

Since 2002, Hess has been planning an LNG terminal for Mount Hope Bay.

“I’m hopeful the Senate will act on this important legislation to preserve and protect the quality of Narragansett Bay and our quality of life here in the Ocean State,” Lynch said. “The harmful effects of this terminal have the potential to negatively impact our economy, environment and the everyday lives of Rhode Island citizens for generations."
