NEW: Former Secretary of State Candidate Running for State Senate

Former State Senator and Secretary of State candidate Lou Raptakis plans to run for an new State Senate seat that will be created by the redistricting commission in 2012.

Raptakis, a Democrat who represented East Greenwich, Warwick, West Warwick, served in the General Assembly for 16 years before running against incumbent Ralph Mollis last year. Mollis ran won the primary comfortably and narrowly defeated Catherine Taylor in the general election.

Raptakis’ website has not been updated recently, but it does include information about his record while in the Senate. He lists fighting crime, protecting seniors, advancing government reform and promoting economic security as his top priorities.
