NEW: Fung is Open to Tolls on State Highways

GOP Candidate Allan Fung said today that he as Governor would not rule out putting tolls on RI highways. The comment came during the taping of WJAR-10's debate between Ken Block and Fung.

In a press release from the Block campaign, Block said he was shocked and amazed as his opponent Allan Fung proposed new tolls on I-95.

“Rhode Islanders are already paying too much in taxes and fees,” said Block. “Families are barely getting by and Allan Fung wants to create new tolls that will make life even harder. This is the Democratic approach – creating new taxes instead of cutting spending.”

Fung's campaign had not responded to requests for comments. According to Block's campaign, tolling I-95 would likely require special federal approval.

“This is the latest and greatest bad idea from Allan Fung,” said Block.
