Gabe Amo Wins Democratic Primary in Special Congressional Election

He turned back a field of a dozen opponents that included Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, State Senator Sandra Cano, former State Representative and candidate for Lt. Governor Aaron Regunberg — and more.
With more than 90% of the vote count Amo has 33% of the vote and a commanding lead over Regunberg with about 25%.

The special election, which will cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, was caused when former congressman David Cicilline quit his seat to take over the position as the head of the Rhode Island Foundation and collect a salary of $650,000 for the group dedicated to supporting those in need.
Amo now moves on to the general election in November.
