NEW: Gemma's Field Director Resigns

There has been a shakeup within the campaign of Democratic Congressional candidate Anthony Gemma.

Joseph Lazzerini, who was serving as Gemma’s field director, confirmed that there was a “mutual agreement” between he and the campaign. He said he will continue to work behind the scenes on the campaign.

There is some dispute as to the actual reason Lazzerini left, however. Gemma spokesperson Alex Morash said the “hours became too much” and that Lazzerini was preparing to head back to school in the fall.

In a brief interview with GoLocalProv, Lazzerini said hours had nothing to do with the reason he left and again repeated that the decision was mutual. When informed that Morash said school was a factor, the phone call was disconnected and Lazzerini did not return follow up calls.

Morash confirmed that another member of the field team also resigned today, citing a decision to attend school as well.
