NEW: Raimondo Picks O'Malley Staffer for Chief of Staff
Stephen NeumanGovernor-elect Gina Raimondo has selected Stephen Neuman as her Chief of Staff. Neuman will be moving to Rhode Island from Maryland where he worked with Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley. Neuman's official start date is on January 6.
“I am excited to have Steve help lead my team as we work to move Rhode Island forward, his experience working for governors in Maryland, North Carolina and Missouri will be invaluable as we work to find new and creative solutions here," Raimondo said of Neuman.
Currently, Neuman is the Director of Public Affairs in Maryland for O'Malley, where he serves as the chief liaison to the Maryland Department of Business and Economic and other agencies. Previously, Neuman worked for North Carolina Governor Beverly Purdue and was an attorney with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He is a graduate of Washington University School of Law and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“Steve was a key part of the team as we increased the minimum wage to $10.10; passed the EARN workforce development initiative; and enacted the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act to support 57,000 jobs by building roads, bridges, and transit projects,” said Governor O'Malley. “We appreciate his service to the citizens of Maryland, and wish him the best as he helps Governor-elect Raimondo achieve results for middle class families in Rhode Island.”
