VIDEO: RI State Rep Candidate Burns Lawn Sign of Opponent Placed on Front Lawn

Candidate for the RI House Daryl Gould videotaped himself setting a lawn sign of opponent Jason Knight -- placed on his lawn -- on fire.
Candidate for the Rhode Island House of Representatives Daryl Gould took to social media, after he said he woke one morning to find a sign of opponent Jason Knight in his front yard.

Gould, a Libertarian, took a video of himself in which he talked about what he said was the difference between himself and Knight, being a progressive Democrat.

Gould lost to Knight in 2016 for House District 67, which encompasses Barrington and Warren.

Gould on Record

"I woke up this morning…I know I’ve been a burr in the side of some progressives locally -- so I came out to find this in my front yard," said Gould in the video, referencing the Knight sign. "I think it's pretty funny, that someone would think that putting Jason Knight’s sign in my yard would somehow bother me."

"It brought something to mind. Just like the money that somebody spent on this sign going up in flames, is not much similar to the taxpayer dollars going up in flames with Jason Knight as our representative," said Gould. "So I figured I’d come out here and out of slight gesture and symbol…say thank you to the individual who gave me the sign."

"As a Libertarian, I’m very familiar with property rights — thanks for Jason and his supporter for dropping this off in my front yard, I’ve put it to good use," said Gould.
