Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was already facing a challenge from the right. Now it appears he’ll also have an opponent running to his left.

Dany Laporte, who describes himself as a business person, entrepreneur, inventor, and chemical engineer, has launched a website and is listed as a candidate for Senate on the Federal Election Commission’s website.

According to his website, Laporte hope to provide free healthcare for all Americans, lower taxes on those making less than $250,000 and would like to give felons with long-term sentences the ability to cut their prison stay in half by earning a Master’s Degree.

“We have become lax and have let too many things go unresolved and now is our chance to address the issues that we are currently faced with,” the website, which includes numerous typos, says. "Everyday We are faced uncertainty and with the problems within in our Society. Our Economy needs help. The Health Care crisis needs help. The Wars on Drugs needs to be fought with more insight. Our children should be assured the same investment in education that the Government assured to the banks. We need help!”
