Trillo Has "Real Problem" with Frias Not Supporting Trump

Trump's RI campaign chair Joe Trillo weighs in on GOP Committeeman Steve Frias not supporting Trump.
State Rep. Joe Trillo, who is Donald Trump's honorary campaign chair for Rhode Island, said he has a "real problem" with Rhode Island Republican National Committeeman Steve Frias supporting John Kasich at the upcoming national convention.

Frias, who is running for State Representative against Speaker Nicholas Mattiello in Cranston, has refused to comment on Trump, the party's presumptive nominee.

"I have a real problem with Frias voting for Kasich,"  Trillo told GoLocalProv.com on Wednesday.

Trillo on Committeeman Role

"Frias is obligated to vote for Kasich on the first ballot -- if he's going to vote Kasich and not Trump on the second ballot, I've got a problem with that," said Trillo.

"I was the former National Committeeman from Rhode Island before [Frias]," said Trillo. "The responsibility of the committeeman is to reflect the will of the people, which he needs to do."

In April, Trump won the GOP primary in Rhode Island with 63.8% of the vote (39,059), and Kasich finished a distant second with 24.4% of the vote (14,929). Ted Cruz finished third with 10.4% (6,393).

Kasich dropped out of the race on May 4, at the same time Cruz bowed out.
