NEW: Unemployment Remains At 10.9 Percent
Rhode Island still trailed far behind its New England counterparts in unemployment last month, registering the third highest employment rate in the entire country.

The Ocean State came in at 10.9 percent unemployment, nearly two points high than the national average and a full three points behind the rest of the region.
At 7.9 percent, New England’s unemployment rate is down from 8.5 percent at the same time a year ago. The jobless rates for the rest of the region went as follows: New Hampshire (4.8 percent); Vermont (5.4 percent); Massachusetts (7.6 percent); and Maine (7.7 percent).
