For over a year, we’ve had mediation shrouded in secrecy. The ongoing uncertainty of this situation is one of the factors holding back our economy,” said Pell.
Federal mediators are still struggling to find a resolution to the lawsuit lobbied by thousands of public employees against the Rhode Island Retirement Security Act of 2011, which they claim reversed pension obligations around which they had structured their contracts. Mediators had been ordered in by a court at the joint request of the parties involved, but have been unable to detail any resolution to the situate as of yet.
