Republican Candidates for 2nd Congressional District Debate on WPRO

The Republican candidates for the Second Congressional District met for a debate this morning on the John DePetro show on 630 WPRO, a GoLocalProv media partner. The three candidates - Mark Zaccaria, Bill Clegg, and Michael Gardiner – covered a range of issues, from Social Security to the fishing industry.

Gardiner challenged Zaccaria on Social Security, asking him if the state Republican nomination committee knew of his plans to move to a 401(k) system. Gardiner himself came under fire from Clegg for supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Zaccaria and Clegg clashed over whether the fishing industry or submarine construction at Quonset Point was the best place to create jobs.
