RI Campaign 2010 – Loughlin Lashes out at Cicilline
It’s not even the general election yet and already the gloves are coming off—late last night Republican Congressional candidate John Loughlin released a statement criticizing Democratic candidate and Providence Mayor David Cicilline’s plan to cover a $50 million budget shortfall through loans.
“It’s ironic that Mayor Cicilline wants a promotion to Congress when he can’t even balance his city budget without borrowing to plug the deficit,” Loughlin said. “This kind of spend-and-borrow mentality is what has gotten our nation so deeply in debt. We need people in Washington who will take a hard line against more spending.”
The Cicilline campaign was not immediately available for a comment.
Gemma Announces Trolley Tour of 20 Cities and Towns
Democratic Congressional candidate Anthony Gemma announced yesterday that he will be touring all 20 cities and tours in the First District by trolley in a single day—this upcoming Thursday. The tour will begin at 7 a.m. at Kennedy Plaza and conclude there 12 hours later.
Gemma said the trolley tour was one example of how his campaign was fulfilling its commitment to restore citizen-driven government. “We’ll take our campaign to the people, whose opinions and judgments will be critical to our plans for economic recovery, open and transparent government, and other key goals,” Gemma said.
The Gemma campaign will be streaming video from the tour on its Facebook page.
