RI Chapter of Sierra Club Endorses Euer for Senate District 13

The Rhode Island Chapter of Sierra Club announced that they are endorsing Dawn Euer in the Special Election for the open Senate seat in District 13 vacated by Teresa Paiva Weed. 

“Dawn demonstrates an especially strong commitment to protecting our coastlines. Dawn assisted Clean Ocean Access achieve their tax-exempt status. She has organized beach cleanups and assisted in their water testing program. She also enrolled in the Master's program in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island. With climate change threatening our coastline this knowledge base and experience is essential,” said Sierra Club in their statement. 

Euer was previously endorsed by the Rhode Island National Organization for Women in April.

Senate Seat 13 Candidates 

Euer is one of four people running for the vacated Senate seat. 

Newport City Councilor John Florez announced on March 23 that he was going to run for the seat and joined GoLocal LIVE on March 24 to talk about it. 

Just a couple of days later on March 27, Progressive Democrat David Allard announced that he would also run for the seat. 

Most recently on April 19, Republican Mike Smith announced on GoLocal LIVE that he would also be running for the Senate seat. He joined GoLocal LIVE to discuss it. 

The election will be held in August.
