Vargas Endorses Smiley

On Tuesday, Councilman Oscar Vargas who represents Ward 15 in Providence, announced he was endorsing Brett Smiley for Mayor of Providence.

“Brett is the leader our city needs,” said Vargas. “At a time when we need to be focusing on education, crime and quality-of-life issues that impact every neighborhood, Brett has the experience we need to bring real improvements to our community. Brett has worked in the city and at the state, he knows the partnership required across all levels of government and with the community in order to get the job done. I am proud to endorse him as our next mayor and I am grateful to have his support in Ward 15.” 

“Councilman Vargas has been a tremendous leader for Ward 15 during his time on council,” added Smiley. “I am so very thankful for his support and look forward to working with him as the next Mayor of Providence to help increase public safety, improve city services and finally fix our schools so that every student has access to a high-quality school in every single neighborhood in this city.” 

 

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt Endorses Stefan Pryor for General Treasurer

On Wednesday morning, Democratic candidate for Treasurer Stefan Pryor announced he received the endorsement of Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, Mayor of the City of Woonsocket.

Pryor is the former Commerce Secretary for the State of Rhode Island.

“I am pleased to endorse Stefan Pryor in his campaign to be Rhode Island’s next Treasurer,” says Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “I am confident that Stefan has the experience needed to successfully manage our state’s finances and to keep our economy strong. I know he is the right person for the job, because he has partnered with Woonsocket for years – and assisted our community greatly during the pandemic. He will continue to serve the people of the Blackstone Valley and all Rhode Islanders through good times and bad.” 

"I am truly grateful for the endorsement of Mayor Baldelli-Hunt," said Stefan Pryor, Democratic Candidate for General Treasurer. “The Mayor and I know that, when state and local leaders team up around economic security and economic growth, major progress is possible.  As Treasurer, I will work with municipal and community leaders to protect Rhode Island's financial health, safeguard Rhode Islanders' retirement income, and keep our state's economy strong – through whatever bumps in the road, downturns, or other challenges come our way. I look forward to continuing and deepening the partnership with Mayor Baldelli-Hunt in order to bring more economic opportunity to Woonsocket, the Blackstone Valley, and all of Rhode Island."

Pryor also earned the endorsement of the Woonsocket Democratic City Committee this week.
