RI Taxpayers Announce Fall Meeting

RI Taxpayers will focus on the importance of a Constitutional Convention at their fall meeting which will be held in conjunction with Renew RI, the coalition spearheading the effort to encourage approval of Referendum #3.  The meeting will take place Wednesday, October 22nd from 5:30pm - 8:00pm at the Radisson Hotel, 2081 Post Road, Warwick (across from the airport).

R.I. Taxpayers is advocating "Yes on Three" for a Constitutional Convention to help bring much needed reform to the tax, business and political culture of Rhode Island. Rhode Island's last Constitutional Convention was in 1986. The program at the meeting will:

~ Outline the importance of a Constitutional Convention at this point in our state's history;
~ Discuss the possible amendments to the Rhode Island Constitution for voters to consider;
~ Present an overview of the Preparatory Commission's report;
~ Offer a national perspective on how it could help transform Rhode Island and look at the process required.

The speakers will be Master of Ceremonies Justice Robert Flanders, former R.I. Supreme Court Justice; Gary Sasse, Director of Bryant University's Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership; John Marion, Executive Director of Common Cause; Mike Stenhouse, founder and CEO of the R.I. Center for Freedom and Prosperity; and Steven Frias, Attorney at Keegan Werlin LLP.
