RI Tea Party Denounces PolitFact RI Claim of Providing False Info

Susan Wynne, President of the RI Tea Party
The Rhode Island Tea Party has denounced PolitiFact RI's claims that they generated false information.

Last week, the fact-checking organization accused the Rhode Island Tea Party of making false claims on Twitter. The Tweet was a quote from the headline to a Redflagnews.com's article, "TERRIFYING! Soldiers Donating To Tea Party Now Face Punishment Under The Uniform Code Of Military Justice?" and included its link.

Yesterday, RI Tea Party President, Susan Wynne released written comments addressing the accusation, "PolitiFact's headline declaring 'Rhode Island Tea Party Says' suggests we had a role in the story when in fact we had nothing to do with its origin. We didn't make the assertion and only shared a link on Twitter confirmed by two news outlets."

Wynne continued, refuting PoitiFact RI's claim, "Politifact contacted a Lt. Col. J. Todd Breasseale to inquire about its validity. He responded, calling it an "absurdity of such outlandish proportion" .." un-American, potentially dangerous and fear mongering". The RI Tea Party takes no issue with the Lt. Colonel and we respect and appreciate our Military and the sacrifices they make. However, we have obtained a memo distributed widely within the Army that calls into focus two recent high profile cases where Army Instructors found information on the website of a particular special interest group that identified certain groups as "extremist" in nature and presented that information as part of their instruction. The groups identified in the instruction were not "extremist" organizations as that term is defined in Army Regulation 600-20. The memo further states that on October 18, 2013, the Secretary of the Army issued an order to stop all training on this subject calling it inaccurate, objectionable and inconsistent with Army policy. The story was in fact, true."
