Some Taveras Transition Team Members Not Providence Residents

Myrth York, a former Democratic candidate for governor and the transition co-chair, said non-city residents were included on the transition team because they too have a vested interest in the success of the state’s capital community.
“We are proud to have the largest and most diverse transition team in the city’s history,” York said. “This team includes city residents, many who work or own businesses in Providence, and talented people from across the state who care deeply about our city’s future. Providence is a linchpin in Rhode Island’s statewide economic recovery and home to many of the state's most important assets. Having a collaborative team that understands this is an important part of Mayor-elect Taveras’ plan to build a stronger, more prosperous Providence.”

She also said whether they donated or not to the campaign was not a factor either.
“Vision and commitment were the central factors in selecting members of the team—residency and financial contributions notwithstanding,” Lynch said.
