Zaccaria on Dem Pollster
Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Mark Zaccaria has weighed in on pollster Joe Fleming, following GoLocal's story on Tuesday.
Zaccaria said, "I do think that Joe Fleming has gotten too comfortable in his role as Pollster of Record here in RI. If that means he’s using the same lists over and over that’s a Mortal, rather than a Venal sin for practitioners of his dark art. In the age of Cell Phones and Caller ID it has become more and more difficult (Read: Expensive) to actually interview a statistically significant sample. So, have Joe’s sample sizes decreased over the last couple cycles? In the Crosstabs do his results show statistical bias?"
"I would think it incumbent upon an organization like WPRI, that promotes itself as neutral, to use several different Pollsters in a rotating pattern. In fact, I can make several suggestions of decent organizations from out-of-State," continued Zaccaria.
Chafee Announces Associate Director of Diversity, Equity and Opportunity
Chafee announced the selection of Cheryl Burrell as the state’s first-ever Associate Director of Diversity, Equity and Opportunity.
Burrell will lead the state’s newly-created executive division entitled the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Opportunity.
“I am pleased to announce Cheryl’s selection as the first Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Opportunity,” Governor Chafee said. “Our state is growing more diverse every day and it is important for state government to reflect the diversity of our state’s population. Together with Former Director of Administration Richard Licht and Director of Administration Steven Hartford, I created this new Executive Division dedicated to diversity in order to ensure a strong proactive approach to diversity initiatives for years to come.”
“I am truly humbled to receive this awesome opportunity to lead the state in advancing the goals of diversity and inclusion,” stated Burrell. “I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and with working with all our state and community partners to advance this important work.”
DNC Chairwoman Coming to RI
DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) will be the guest speaker of the Rhode Island Democratic Party Unity Dinner.
The event is Tuesday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the West Valley Inn in West Warwick.
"We are extremely excited that out national party chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, will be rallying Rhode Island Democrats at our Unity Dinner," said Chairwoman Grace Diaz.
Providence GOP Cookout Fundraiser
The Providence GOP will be hosting a cookout fundraiser on September 24 at the Brooklyn Tea House.
