Yes RI, There Is a (Fiscal) Solution
“I am a middle-aged Rhode Island taxpayer. Some of my friends and neighbors say when it comes to our state’s fiscal problems, there is no solution. Please tell me the truth, is there a Solution?”

Dear RI,
Your little friends and neighbors are wrong. Yes, RI, there is a (fiscal) Solution.
Your friends have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical time. Apparently they are paying attention to that nine-digit state budget deficit, 70,000 jobless neighbors, and businesses vanishing around them.
A solution exists as certainly as lower taxes on residents and business, consolidating struggling towns, and 401 (k) pension plans for public employees exist. You know that in other states they abound and (could) give our communities a higher quality of life, budgets of beauty, and joy.
Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no (fiscal) Solution.
It would be as dreary as if there were no Rhode Island!
There would be no childlike faith then, (in balanced budgets), no pension reform poetry, no increased revenue romance to make tolerable this Ocean State existence.
Nobody sees the (fiscal) Solution, but that is no sign that it does not exist!
The most real things in our state are those that neither (inadequately educated) children, nor Mayors, nor General Assembly men or women can see.
Nobody around here can conceive or imagine all the wonders (of a Right to Work State) that are unseen and unseeable in our world……
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all Rhode Island taxpayers who continue to believe that just because we have not seen a solution…… it doesn’t mean it does not exist……On to 2011!
