Brown falls to Cornell 34-16
The Brown University football team fell to the Cornell Big Red 34-16 on Saturday afternoon at Brown Stadium.

The loss drops Brown to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in the Ivy League, while Cornell improves to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League.

The Bears jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the second quarter after Livingstone Harriott sacred on a 63-yard run with 6:44 left in the half.

From there, Cornell rallied.

Big Red quarterback Dalton Banks hit Harold Coles on a 27-yard touchdown pass to cut Brown’s lead to 10-7 with 3:44 left in the half.

With 12 seconds left in the half, Cornell took the lead when Banks hit Owen Peters on a one-yard touchdown pass to put the Big Red up 14-10.

In the second half, it was more of the same.

Coles scored on a six-yard run to give Cornell a 21-10 lead and then Banks connected with Lars Pedersen on a 59-yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 28-10.

The Big Red would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter and cruise to the 34-16 win.

Local Connection

Former Bishop Hencricken star Jake Derderian rushed 11 times for 71 yards in his homecoming game.

Derderian helped Hendricken win three straight state championships, while rushing for 961 yards in his high school career. 

Following his career at Hendricken, Derderian walked on to the Cornell football team, where he is now in his sophomore season.

Brown returns to action on Saturday, October 27 when they host Penn.
