Turnovers Prove Costly

With the game tied at 21, Brown opened the second half of action with the ball on their own 25 yard line. They would move the ball to their own 31 yard line before running back David Moodie fumbled and Stetson’s Jeb Boudreaux recovered the ball.

On Stetson’s ensuing possession, they would run seven plays, getting the ball to the Brown 12 yard line before Grant Amick would hit a 29 yard field goal to give the Hatters a 24-21 lead.

After punting on two straight possessions, Brown quarterback Kyle Moreno’s pass that was intended for receiver Garrett Swanky was intercepted at the Stetson 45 yard line by Glenn Adesoji. Brown’s second turnover of the half.

The interception would also end Kyle Moreno’s day as the Bears would put junior Thomas Linta under center for the remainder of the contest.

After Brown’s Alex Jette punted the ball out of bounds following Linta’s first possession, Stetson took the ball from the Brown 40 yard line and moved the ball to the Brown 9 yard line before Stetson quarterback Gaven DeFilippo found Donald Parham for a touchdown to put Stetson up 31-21 early in the fourth quarter.

The Brown offense continued their struggles the remainder of the game with Thomas Linta throwing two interceptions to help Stetson seal the win.

The Bears turned the ball over five times in the game, four times in the second half. Their turnovers helped lead to ten Stetson points.

Brown Gets off to a Good Start

The Brown offense started out hot and for a short time, it looked like they might run away with it.

Following a Stetson fumble on their opening possession, Moreno hit Isaac Whitney with a 28 yard pass for a touchdown, that would put the Bears up 7-0 after a Jacob Wilner extra point was good.

On their next offensive possession, just two minutes later, Brown’s David Moodie would run the ball 41 yards to the end zone to put Brown up 14-0 after a Wilner extra point was good.

Stetson would score 14 straight points of their own, tying the game at 14 following a Kyle Moreno fumble on his own 26 yard line.

The Bears would take the lead right back on their next possession when Alex Jette rushed for 25 yards for a touchdown to put the Bears up 21-14 with time winding down in the first quarter. Brown would not score again the rest of the game.

The Hatters would tie the game early the second quarter after Alex Jette’s punt from the Brown 10 yard line went 15 yards and out of bounds.

On the very first play of Stetson’s ensuing offensive possession, running back Cole Mazza would take the ball 25 yards to the end zone to tie the game at 21 after a Grant Amick extra point was good.

The Brown offense would not get past their side of the 50 yard line for the remainder of the half.
