Brown Rallies from 21 Point Deficit to Stun Bryant 35-27

The Brown Bears (1-0) came back from a 21-0 deficit to beat the (1-2) Bryant Bulldogs 35-27 on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium on Bryant’s campus. 

Brown has won two of the three games played between the two programs.

With the score tied at 21, Brown quarterback Kyle Moreno found Garrett Swanky for an 11 yard touchdown pass to give the Bears their first lead of the game, 28-21 after a Jacob Wilner extra point was good. 

The Bulldogs would score a touchdown on their next possession in the form of a Hunter Taute two yard rush, however Ricky Perez would miss the extra point attempt, leaving Brown in the lead, 28-27. 

The Bears would add another score with 35 seconds left in the quarter to go up 35-27 after a Moreno two yard rush and a Wilner extra point. 

The Bears trialed 21-0 after the first quarter. 

Brown Rallies 

Bryant quarterback Dalton Easton hit Taylor Barthelette from 33 yards out for a touchdown before an extra point by Ricky Perez was good to put Bryant up 21-0 with 1:17 left in the first quarter. 

Then the Bears scored 28 straight points. 

The Brown come back started in the second quarter when Moreno connected with Troy Doles on an 18 yard pass for a touchdown, before Jacob Wilner added the extra point to make it 21-7. 

On Browns next defensive possession, Sebastian Dovi picked off Easton at the Bryant 37 yard line. He was taken down immediatley. 

A few plays later, Moreno ran the ball into the end zone and Wilner added the extra point to cut Bryant’s lead to just 7, 21-14. 

The Bulldogs would take that lead into the half. 

In the second half, on Brown’s second offensive possession, Moreno found Anton Casey in the end zone to tie the game at 21 after a Wilner extra point. 

The Numbers 

Brown quarterback Kyle Moreno went 16 of 29 for 224 yards and three passing touchdowns as well as two rushing touchdowns. 

Bryant quarterback Dalton Easton threw for 275 yards on 21 of 44 passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions. 

Next up 

Brown returns home on Saturday, September 24 to host Ivy League rival Harvard at 2 pm. 

The Bulldogs stay home to host Central Connecticut at 1 p.m.
