Providence, R.I. – Brown announced its challenging 31 game men’s basketball schedule for 2014-2015, featuring 11 teams that played in last year’s postseason, including games against four teams from the NCAA Tournament, a Thanksgiving Tournament, two Big Ten matchups, games against all of Rhode Island’s Division I teams, and a 14-game Ivy League slate.

"This year's schedule is going to challenge our team from the very outset with a number of quality programs featured who will prepare us for what should be a very competitive Ivy League,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin.  “We're excited to participate in the Las Vegas Invitational, and are fortunate to have all three local schools (PC, URI, Bryant) on our schedule once again.  Lastly, hosting a Big Ten program in our gym will be great for our program, campus, and the Rhode Island basketball community."

Martin’s team opens its 15 game home schedule at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday, November 14 against St. Peter’s, followed by a Monday, November 17 home match-up against Northwestern, the first of Brown’s Big Ten games.

A CIT re-match at Holy Cross will take place on November 19 in Worcester, Mass., prior to departing for the Las Vegas Invitational, which starts at campus sites on November 22 at Indiana State and November 24 at Illinois. The Bears move on to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for games against Austin Peay on Thanksgiving Day (11/27), and a November 28matchup with either Steven F. Austin or Prairie View.

Brown’s remaining non-league home schedule features games against American (12/3), Bryant (12/6), Sacred Heart (12/28), UMass Lowell (1/5), Johnson & Wales (11/30), and Lyndon State (1/12).

The Bears will travel downtown for the 120th match-up against Providence College on December 8 at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Brown also heads to Kingston, RI to battle cross-state rival URI on New Year’s Eve, December 31, meeting the Rams for the 158th time. Additional non-league away games are against Central Connecticut (12/22) and New Hampshire (1/8).

The 14-game Ivy League Playoffs open on Saturday, January 17 when Martin’s squad hosts Yale in Providence.  Defending Ivy Champion Harvard comes to the Pizzitola Sports Center on February 6, followed by Dartmouth (2/7), Columbia (2/20), Cornell (2/21), Penn (2/27), and Princeton (2/28).
