This is not the first time Hopkins' talent has been recognized, however, as he also won Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2012.
Prior to his current position at CCRI, Hopkins was both a men's baseball and women's basketball coach at RIC. He was a director of athletics for Cranston Public Schools for thirteen years, and he currently teaches at Cranston East.
Ready for next season
Hopkins demands much from his players, but the results show as he has seen many of his players transition to four-year colleges and even professional-level teams. Hopkins eagerly awaits the upcoming baseball season, calling his team "one of the finest squads in recent memory."
