The Cranston League for Cranston’s Future (CLCF) 12-and-under girls softball all-stars are now officially on the road in pursuit of a national title.

But first, they must go through Connecticut.

The Rhode Island Little League Champions left early Saturday morning for Bristol for regional action — and GoLocal caught up with team mom Lauren Garcia to get the scoop.

“How excited are the girls on a scale of 1-10? I’d say about 15,” said Garcia, whose daughter Adriana is a pitcher.

Where to Watch

The team will settle in briefly before seeing action against Massachusetts on Sunday night — and it will be televised on ESPN+. You can see the bracket here

The format is double elimination, and Garcia said the team is ready.

“Every player gives it their all at each of their positions,” said Garcia. “They’ve all been playing together a while, so they work so well together. There’s no one person carrying the team. They have a great bond on and off the field.”

For Garcia and her husband — who played softball and baseball — seeing their daughter and her teammates both enjoy the sport, and succeed, has been a joy.

“They’ve very excited. CLCF girls softball has never made it this far. This is a big deal,” said Garcia.
