Dunn's Game Winner Gives #12 PC 50-48 Win Over Creighton

With the game tied at 48, Kris Dunn walked the ball up the court with ten seconds left in the game and got himself a step back jumper from just outside the painted area that seemingly sat on the rim forever before rolling in. The Friars have now won six straight road games dating back to last season.

The Friars trailed by as much as eight, 36-28, with 9:10 to play in the game and did not have a lead in the game until there was 4:13 to play and PC grabbed a 45-43 advantage.
Slow Start
Providence got off to another slow start in this game, opening the contest by shooting 1 of 11 from the field and finding themselves in 12 point hole, 19-7, in the first half.
PC would cut thier deficit to three, 21-18, but would head into the locker room trailing 25-18 at the half.
The Leaders
Kris Dunn led the Friars with 20 points on 6 of 17 shooting from the field while also grabbing eight rebounds.
Ben Bentil followed up with 13 points of his own on 4 of 12 shooting from the field. Bentil also grabbed eight rebounds.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, January 16 when they host Seton Hall at 4:30 p.m at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

5 Takeaways From #12 PC's 50-48 Win Over Creighton
Rodney Bullock
Due to foul trouble, Bullock only played 22 minutes and took two shots in the game, both of which he missed.
Bullock had no points, one rebound and two turnovers in his time on the court.
Bullock has averaged 13 points per game this season for Providence but has reached double figures in only two of PC's last five games.
Ben Bentil
Ben Bentil was the only other Friar in double-figures behind Kris Dunn.
Bentil netted 13 points on 4 of 12 shooting from the field and 4 of 6 from the free throw line.
Of Bentil's 12 shot attempts, 5 of them came from three-point land. Bentil knocked down one three in the game.
Bentil also grabbed eight rebounds and recorded two blocked shots in the game.
Bench Points
Drew Edwards led the PC bench with 6 points on 2 of 3 shooting from the field and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. Ryan Fazekas added three points of his own, his first points since returning to the team after battling mono.
Overall, PC's bench got outscored 27-11 in the game.
Another Slow Start
For the fourth straight game, the Friars got off to a slow start .
Friars started the game by shooting 1 for 11 from the field and finished the half shooting 5 of 28 from the field and 2 of 14 from three-point land.
Providence trailed by as much as 12, 19-7, before eventually cutting their deficit to three, 21-18. Providence trailed 25-18 at the half and that's because Creighton was 8 of 37 from the field in the first half.
PC needs to find a way to turn these slow starts around and fast.
Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn's step back jumper with just seconds left gave the Friars a big road win against Creighton. Dunn saved himself with that shot because on the possession before that he turned the ball over, leading to Creighton's game tying layup.
Dunn finished the game with 20 points on 6 of 17 shooting from the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Dunn also grabbed 8 rebounds.
For nearly the entire game, Creighton sent two and three players to Dunn every time he posted up, forcing other players to have to step up. It worked for most of the game.
We saw something similar in the final possession against Marquette where the Golden Eagles sent three guys to Dunn when he got the ball and Providence did not end up getting a shot off.
