Dunn's Game Winner Gives #12 PC 50-48 Win Over Creighton

Kris Dunn hits game winner to give PC the win.
The #12 Providence College Friars (15-2, 3-1 Big East) defeated the (12-6, 3-2 Big East) Creighton Blue Jays 50-48 in Omaha on Tuesday night. The game was an ugly one as PC shot 30 percent from the field while Creighton shot 25 percent from the field.

With the game tied at 48, Kris Dunn walked the ball up the court with ten seconds left in the game and got himself a step back jumper from just outside the painted area that seemingly sat on the rim forever before rolling in. The Friars have now won six straight road games dating back to last season.

On the Friars previous possesion, Kris Dunn turned the ball over and that led to a game tying layup from Maurice Watson Jr. 

The Friars trailed by as much as eight, 36-28, with 9:10 to play in the game and did not have a lead in the game until there was 4:13 to play and PC grabbed a 45-43 advantage. 

Slow Start

Providence got off to another slow start in this game, opening the contest by shooting 1 of 11 from the field and finding themselves in 12 point hole, 19-7, in the first half. 

PC would cut thier deficit to three, 21-18, but would head into the locker room trailing 25-18 at the half. 

The Leaders 

Kris Dunn led the Friars with 20 points on 6 of 17 shooting from the field while also grabbing eight rebounds. 

Ben Bentil followed up with 13 points of his own on 4 of 12 shooting from the field. Bentil also grabbed eight rebounds. 

Next up 

The Friars return to action on Saturday, January 16 when they host Seton Hall at 4:30 p.m at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
