But the game was seen by few students. The student section in the Ryan Center was poorly attended. The thousands of seats dedicated for students saw just a couple of hundred in attendance.
The students were supposed to “Bring the Ruckus,” but throughout the game, the student section was muted.
University of Rhode Island undergraduate students are eligible to claim free tickets to URI football and men's and women's basketball games. According to URI, based on limited seating capacities and higher ticket demand, a student cap of 1000 free tickets/access is in place.
Attendance is one of the provisions in Archie Miller's contract that boosts his compensation. The attendance bonus jumps from $750,000 a year to $1 million a year in Miller's third year, regardless of ticket sales. Miller is presently in his second year as the Rams' head coach.
