GAME ON: Robert Lewis Q & A, RI's Best Ballplayer?
Interview by Malcolm Burnley, GAME ON Reporter
GAME ON: Robert Lewis Q & A, RI's Best Ballplayer?

GAME ON: Do you have a nickname?
Robert Lewis: My friends call me LBJ, for LeBron.
GAME ON: What was it like to drop 36 in Hendricken’s gym?
RL: I was in the zone. It was an honor to go in there with all their history and perform. It felt good…but I want a ring first.
GAME ON: On that note, do you have any predictions to make about the rest of the season?
RL: I predict that we will win the state. It’s going to be a great tournament. I will predict a state championship though.
GAME ON: You received a lot of praise post-Hendricken, but North Kingstown held you to 10 points next game (60-46 loss for Central), dropping your average from first-to-second amongst RI scoring leaders – what happened?
RL: I had acid-reflux. It was totally unexpected. I shouldn’t have played, but wanted to help the team. I felt like I was about to faint, so I went to the hospital to get medication. It’s going away, but I’m not over it.
GAME ON: What’s your approach to being team leader and captain?
RL: I have to be focused or else nobody else will be. When I’m focused, our team plays hard. I like that position though. I like the responsibility.
GAME ON: What’s the best aspect of your game, and what’s one thing you are working on?
RL: I’m good at reading the defense, knowing when to drive, when to attack, and I’m strong with the ball. I’m still working on making my jump-shot consistent though.
GAME ON: Your game has taken-off this season, your senior year – how did you improve so much?
RL: Coach Keefe saw the potential in me and worked with me in the off-season. He put me in the weight room, on shooting machines, and taught me about reading defenses.
GAME ON: You seem to enjoy yourself on the court – what do you like so much about basketball?
RL: It’s just relaxing. People go through challenges every day, but on the court that all goes away. I love competing, love playing against the best player on the court.
GAME ON: What are your aspirations for basketball next year, and beyond?
RL: Prep-ball is the plan for next year. I want basketball to take me as far as I can go. Basketball is my life. That’s what I do.
