Gronkowski, Hightower Named Patriots Captains for First Time

The New England Patriots named their team captains on Tuesday and they include first time captains Rob Gronkowski and Dont’a Hightower.

Devin McCourty and Matthew Slater were also named captains. This comes according to ESPN’s Field Yates. 

It is expected that once Tom Brady and Rob Ninkovich return from suspension, they too will be named captains.

McCourty and Slater have been named captains for the six straight seasons. 

Gronkowski & Hightower 

Rob Gronkowski is now in his 7th season with the Patriots and last week was named the team’s Ron Burton Community Service Award winner. 

Hightower was one of the Patriots two first round picks in 2012, coming to New England out of Alabama. 

Season Begins 

The Patriots begin their season on Sunday Night Football when they visit the Arizona Cardinals.

Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
