Introducing Herb Stevens, GoLocalProv's Skiing Weatherman

GoLocalProv is teaming with Herb Stevens, the “Skiing Weatherman” for coverage of snow and skiing conditions throughout New England this winter. Stevens joins GoLocal’s iconic weatherman John Ghiorse to expand winter coverage even further.

“Herb Stevens is the authority on skiing conditions in New England. We are excited that his video reports will appear each Thursday throughout the winter on both GoLocalWorcester and GoLocalProv,” said Josh Fenton, Co-Founder and CEO at GoLocal24, the parent company to GoLocalProv.com and GoLocalWorcester.com.

“I am incredibly excited to be teaming with GoLocal. We strive to bring the skier the best tools to plan their trips and enjoy New England’s outdoors. GoLocal is the perfect platform to distribute our content to New Englanders,” said Stevens.

Stevens has had a sweeping career ranging from meteorologist to sportsman. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Herb went on to a career as a caddy on the PGA Tour for five years before launching his career as a meteorologist. After one year at WJAR-TV in Providence, RI, Stevens became one of the original on-camera meteorologists at The Weather Channel. Later, he became the Chief Meteorologist at WNYT-TV in Albany, NY. As part of his duties at WNYT, Stevens pioneered a weekly on-snow ski report, which later became his full-time job, The Skiing Weatherman.

The Skiing Weatherman is currently Stevens’ main focus, reaching dozens of markets and millions online and now primarily online each week. “As the fastest growing media company in New England, GoLocal is constantly innovating. Its editorial coverage has tremendous depth, and its range of news, sports, lifestyle, and weather coverage is already proving itself a bright spot in a national news landscape that doesn't have too many,” Stevens said.

“Since we launched GoLocalProv in 2010, we have had an absolute commitment to invest in high quality enterprise journalism. We have broken many of the biggest stories in Massachusetts and Rhode Island,” said Fenton.

In the past year, GoLocal has realized multi-hundred percent growth in pageviews, unique visitors and revenue. GoLocal is becoming a part of its community’s daily lives – now realizing more than 300% year-over-year in pageview growth in Providence.

In Worcester, traffic in the first year is already the 2nd largest digital source in Central Massachusetts, delivering more than 2 million pageviews per month. Combined, GoLocalProv and GoLocalWorcester exceed 7.5 million pageviews per month.
