Kris Dunn, Bryce Cotton Shine in 2016 NBA Summer League Debuts

It was a bit of a bittersweet night for Friar basketball fans as former stars Kris Dunn and Bryce Cotton both made their 2016 NBA Summer League debuts on Friday night in Las Vegas, and both saw success. 

Meanwhile, Ben Bentil just finished Utah Summer League with the Boston Celtics, who are set to start their Vegas Summer League today.

Here is a recap and some highlights.

Kris Dunn 

Just a day after signing a rookie contract with the Timberwolves, Dunn made his NBA Summer League debut against the Denver Nuggets and poured in 27 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, had 3 steals, 2 assists and 1 block. Dunn returns to action on Sunday, July 10 at 6 p.m. when he and Minnesota face Toronto. 

Dunn's highlights on the night included an opening play alley-oop and some fancy dribbling that literally sent Jakar Sampson to the floor. 

Bryce Cotton 

Meanwhile, Bryce Cotton made his summer league debut with the Atlanta Hawks and poured in 14 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in 17 minutes of action. Atlanta beat Houston 83-78. 

Atlanta returns to action on Sunday at 4 p.m. when the Hawks take on Washington. 

Ben Bentil 

Ben Bentil and the Boston Celtics finished Utah Summer League with a 3-0 record and are set to begin Las Vegas Summer League today at 6 p.m. against the Bulls. 

In Boston's three Utah games, Bentil averaged 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Boston, coming off the bench in each game.
