Who Will Dominate RI Boys Lax in 2014?

La Salle will look to win a third straight state title next spring.
After winning two straight state titles for the first time in program history, the La Salle boys lacrosse team is looking like they could very well win a third straight come next spring. Defeating Moses Brown 14-3 in convincing fashion in the state final just last weekend, the Rams will bring back many of their top contributors from this year's championship squad.

Joe Manown just finished his sophomore year, but was probably the most explosive attackman in the state. The Duke commit was second in Division I in points this season, registering 52 goals and 43 assists for 95 points, trailing only La Salle senior captain and Bryant commit Brady O'Donnell, who scored 64 goals on the year and compiled 99 points.

La Salle will also bring back juniors John Manown, Sam James, Alex Handanyan, and Matt Andrews from this year's team to form maybe the strongest senior class in the state next year. Handanyan was a solid midfielder this season for the Rams, scoring eight goals and registering 21 points, while Andrews was a mainstay in net for the two-time defending state champions, making 104 saves on the season and holding Moses Brown to just three goals to secure La Salle's second straight title.

Barrington could contend

Barrington High School lost 12-8 in the Division I semifinals to La Salle this year, becoming the only team all season to come within five goals of the undefeated Rams all year.

The Eagles will bring back their goalie, Adam Thompson, who may be the best in the state. Making 168 saves this past season, second most in Division I, the First Team All-State selection led Barrington to a 6-4 season.

Barrington will also return one of the top shut down long-stick midfielders in First Team All-State selection Pat Mahoney, to go along with Patrick Judge, who is a Second Team All-State selection and scored 32 goals and compiled 52 points this past season.
