Lincoln's Nick Zammarelli MLB Draft Hopeful This Week

At 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, Zammarelli has been one of the biggest threats to opposing pitchers in the state of Rhode Island. Leading his team to a record of 10-10 in league play, Lincoln head coach Andrew Hallam has called Zammarelli's individual stats “video game like,” hitting just shy of the .500 mark on the season, while compiling an on-base percentage just shy of .700, and scoring over 25 runs in just 20 games.
“No one is as deserving as Nick,” Hallam said. “He has truly been a great captain this year. He has not only had to deal with the regular pressures of the game and being a leader, but also the pressure of performing for the scouts. His maturity has been truly exemplar.”

Zammarelli is committed to play baseball at Elon University next year, but his recent play has some teams mentioning his name in the 10-15 round range for this week's MLB Draft, which is set to get underway on Thursday and will end on Saturday.
“He's the guy you want in your lineup because you know you're getting everything he's got everyday,” Hallam said. “Even in practice he always wants more, which is what separates him from others.”
Zammarelli has been named the top overall MLB prospect out of the state of Rhode Island by Perfect Game, a company that constructs some of the top baseball showcases around the country and ranks the top high school and college players.
Zammarelli's name most likely won't be called until day three, when rounds 11-40 are announced. Where Zammarelli is selected will determine whether or not he chooses to attend Elon in the fall or begin his professional baseball career.
