Wild 7th Inning

The Yankees scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to grab a commanding 6-3 lead after they had trailed 3-0 earlier in the game.

However, the Red Sox would answer.

Boston loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh against New York’s Tommy Kahnle. They scored one run on Mookie Betts' sacrifice fly and another on Andrew Benintendi's single to make the score 6-5.

Hanley Ramirez then drew a walk to load the bases again before Moreland drilled a 0-2 pitch to center to make it 7-6 Red Sox.

The seventh inning took one hour and three minutes to play.

Red Sox Close the Game

In the 8th inning, Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a two-run single off Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman to give Boston a 9-6 lead.

Craig Kimbrel came on in the 9th inning and struck out the side for his 29th save of the season.

Pomeranz Injured

Starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz left the game in the fourth inning after suffering from back spasms.

Pomeranz had won six straight starts and left the game with a 2-0 led.

Series Continues

The Red Sox and Yankees continue their series on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Fenway Park.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Chris Sale against New York’s CC Sabathia.
