North Kingstown’s Elizabeth Beisel won a silver medal in today’s 400-meter individual medley at the Summer Olympics in London.

The 19-year-old had the best time of her career (4:31.27), but a world-record performance from China’s Ye Shiwen (4:28:43) earned the top honor.

Beisel will also compete in the 200-meter backstroke next week.
