Bruins Goaltender Rask to Take Leave of Absence Effective Immediately

Tuuka Rask will take a leave of abences from Bruins
Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has been granted a leave of absence for a personal matter effective immediately, the Bruins announced on Friday morning.

It is unclear how long Rask will be gone for. 

“It’s not health related. It’s important to respect his privacy and allow him to deal with it for the next few days,” said Bruins general manager Don Sweeney in a press conference on Friday.

The announcement comes the morning after the Bruins were beaten 8-5 by the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night at the TD Garden.

In the game, Boston’s Jaroslav Halak got the start and gave up five goals on 19 shots.

Rask came in and gave up three more goals on 14 shots.

Rask This season

So far this season, Rask has started seven games and appeared in eight.

He has a record of 4-4 with a goals-against average (GAA) of 3.05 and a save percentage of .901.

Next Up for Bruins

The Bruins return to action on Saturday, November 10 when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden. 

Puck drop for that game is set for 7 p.m. 

Boston will then turn around and host the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
