NEW: PC Basketball Drops to 12 in National Poll

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team fell two spots to number 12 in the AP Poll and rose one spot from 14 to 13 in the Coaches Poll, in the latest college basketball rankings that were released today.

This is the fifth consecutive week in which PC has been ranked.

In the AP Poll, Providence is ranked behind Kentucky and Iowa State at 10 and 11 respectively, while ahead of Miami and Purdue at 13 and 14 respectively.

In the Coaches Poll, PC is ranked behind Kentucky and Duke at 11 and 12 respectively, while ranked ahead of Purdue and Miami at 14 and 15 respectively.

RPI Ranking

After not being in the RPI poll over the last two weeks, PC is now ranked as the 15th highest RPI in the country.

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against.

Conference Play Starts

Providence returns to action on New Years Eve when they visit #9 Butler at 2:30 p.m. The game marks the first Big East game of the season for PC.

PC's first conference home game is set for Saturday, January 2nd when they host St. John's at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Tip off is set for 3:30 p.m.
