Family legacy

Bennett, son of Brown Hockey Hall of Famer Jim Bennett, is the latest in a long succession of hockey greats. His grandfather Harvey Bennett, Sr. played 25 games in goal for the 1944-45 Boston Bruins, and was posthumously inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame in 2013.

Three of Mac Bennett's uncles went on to play in the NHL, and another played in the WHA. Harvey Bennett, Jr. played five NHL seasons at center for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, and Minnesota North Stars. Bill Bennett played left wing for the Boston Bruins and Hartford Whalers over two seasons. Curt Bennett, also in the Brown Hall of Fame, played 12 NHL seasons for the St. Louis Blues, NY Rangers, and Atlanta Flames. He played in two NHL All Star Games, 1975 and 1976, representing the Atlanta Flames.
