Pannone Fans 16, Hendricken Sweeps South Kingstown for D1 Baseball Title

Bishop Hendricken defeated South Kingstown, 5-0, Thursday evening to claim the Division 1 baseball title. Tom Pannone struck out 16 batters for the Hawks, and gave up just one hit in a complete game shutout. Hendricken swept the two-game championship series at McCoy Stadium, winning the first game, 12-2 yesterday.

Pannone has had an exciting few weeks, having also been drafted in the 33rd round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago Cubs. He also has committed to the University of Miami, and will have until July 13 to make his decision. That date is the deadline for high school draftees to sign with teams. He posted a 0.16 ERA during the regular season and hit .380 for Hendricken. Pannone was named series MVP.

The Hawks won Game 1 behind a terrific pitching performance from Bobby Indeglia, who went the distance in Game 1, giving up 2 runs.
