After the game against Houston, the Patriots will visit the Detroit Lions for the first preseason game between the two teams since 2013. That game was won by Detroit.

Lastly, the Patriots will close the preseason by facing the New York Giants for the 13th straight season and the 27th time overall. The two teams starting playing preseason games in 2005 and have alternated hosting the preseason finale since then.
