Patriots Acquire Tight End Eric Saubert from Atlanta

The New England Patriots acquired tight end Eric Saubert from the Atlanta Falcons for a conditional seventh-round pick on Monday.

The move comes as tight end Matt LaCosse is out with a sprained ankle that he suffered in New England’s preseason game last Thursday.

LaCosse will not play against Tennessee on Saturday night.

About Saubert

Saubert was drafted by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Drake University

In 2018 with Atlanta, he hauled in five catches for 48 yards as Atlanta’s third-string tight end behind Levine Toilolo and Austin Hooper.

Tight End Depth

Saubert is the second tight end to join the Patriots in the last three weeks following the free-agent signing of Lance Kendricks back in July.

He joins LaCosse, Stephen Anderson, Ryan Izzo, Andrew Beck, and Kendricks at the tight end position, along with Ben Watson, who is suspended for the first four games of the season.
