The Friars punished the Spiders from the beginning of the game. The Friars led by 15 at halftime and the lead ballooned to 30.

Richmond was just 1-22 from the three-point line and PC was 12-22.

Pete Gillen led the Friars to the Elite 8 in the 1996-97 season. That year’s Friar squad finished 24-12 and was led by Austin Croshere, Ruben Garces and God Shammgod.

The Friars were led by Nate Horshler who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. He added four three-pointers.

This is only the second post-season game between the two teams, the Friars earned a 67-49 win in the NIT at Richmond on March 19, 2003.
