Pennsylvania Teenager Wins Fortnite World Cup for $3 Million

A16-year-old Pennsylvania native named Kyle 'Bugha' Giersdorf claimed the top prize in New York City over the weekend.

The massive event was held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens.

According to CNN, the tournament was viewed by over one million online.

"Words can't really explain it. I'm so happy. Everything I've done in the grind has all paid off and it's just insane," said Kyle 'Bugha' Giersdorf, via CNN.

The $3 million is the biggest payout for the winner of a solo Esports competition. Coming in second to Giersdorf at the tournament was Harrison "Psalm" Chang.

For his effort, the 24-year-old took home $1.8 million. Californian Shane "Epikwhale" Cotton, another 16-year-old gamer, came in third place and won $1.2 million.
