North Kingstown and Central High School came into the RI State Championship with nearly identical records.

Cental was 8-2 --and North Kingstown, 8-3 -- on the season.

The championship game had all the ingredients for a big-time rivalry game.

But, the Skippers' early passing game provided North Kingstown with the early lead.

At the half, Skippers led 27-6.

In the third quarter, Central outscored the Skippers 7-0, but it was simply not enough.

The final score North Kingstown 34 and Central 13.
