Power Rankings- anyone can do them, but no one can do them right.
At least I’ve never seen anyone put out a set of these puppies and not spark some heated debates. Here are our current Top 10 Football teams in the Rhode Island High School ranks. Feel free to comment below with your own versions. Let the debate begin!

In these rankings I’ve factored in record, strength of schedule, head to head results, and the overall performance of each team on a week to week basis. North Kingstown, Mt. Pleasant, Rogers, and several other schools were tough cuts from the Top 10, but we kick things off with my hometown team in the 10 spot after a 3-0 start to their league season.
Power Ranking Football October 10
10. Cumberland
10. Cumberland: 4-1 (3-0 Division 2-B)
They’ve been rock solid in league play and the Clippers’ lone loss came to Division1 Cranston West (27-12).
9. Woonsocket
9. Woonsocket: 4-1 (3-0 Division 2-A)
The Novans have conceded 7 points in league play and played Shea close in their lone loss (7-0). They also beat Division 1 East Providence in non-league play (27-21).
8. East Greenwich
8. East Greenwich: 5-0 (3-0 Division 3)
East Greenwich remains unscathed in Division 3 and has a 21-14 win over Division 2-A Chariho on its resume as well.
7. Shea
7. Shea: 4-0 (2-0 Division 2-B)
Shea beat Woonsocket and they’ve outscored opponents 82-8 thus far. They might have to change the school name to include a “D” in “Shea” somewhere at this point.
6. La Salle
6. La Salle: 4-1 (2-1 Division 1)
They’ve had a spotless campaign outside of their loss to Portsmouth. The Rams lack a defining win to rank any higher on this list.
5. Cranston East
5. Cranston East: 4-1 (1-1 Division 1)
They don’t have a defining win yet, but their lone loss was by 4 points on the road against undefeated Barrington. Cranston East might be the most explosive team in the state offensively.
4. Portsmouth
4. Portsmouth: 3-1 (2-1 Division 1)
They have a loss courtesy of South Kingstown, but the Patriots blew out La Salle 40-13 earlier in the year and are as good as anyone when they’re at their best.
3. South Kingstown
3. South Kingstown: 3-1 (1-1 Division 1)
SK lost convincingly to Hendricken (36-14) but they have the best win on resume of any of the 1-loss Division 1 schools with their 25-22 victory over Portsmouth.
2. Barrington
2. Barrington: 5-0 (3-0 Division 1)
They haven’t been quite as dominant as the team ranked #1 on this list, but the Eagles do have a key win over Cranston East on their resume, as well as a spotless W-L record.
1. Hendricken
1. Hendricken: 5-0 (3-0 Division 1)
176 points for, 35 points allowed, and they’ve won every game by at least 20 points so far. The Hawks are Rhode Island’s most dominant team thus far in 2013.
