Red Sox Give Napoli 3-Year, $39 Million Deal
The Boston Red Sox intimated that they were not going to make any big free agent signings this offseason. They lied!
According to ESPNDallas.com, the Sox agreed to a 3-year deal worth $39 million with former Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli.

While Napoli's career numbers aren't great (.257 avg., .501 slugging percentage), his career numbers at Fenway are (.306 avg., .710 slugging percentage).

Most believe that Napoli will likely play first base for Boston and will provide some punch to the middle of their line-up. Napoli is a right-handed power hitter complimenting the left-handed hitting David Ortiz. It is still not known whether Boston will aggressively try to keep Cody Ross with the team. Ross, himself, is searching for a 3-year deal as a free agent and did provide some pop from the right side of the plate.
Boston did sign former Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Johny Gomes to a deal a week ago. Gomes spent last season with the Oakland A's.
